Zebra Switch Set

Although in my YouTube review I spent most of my time describing the Tide Alice and 49 keyboards, inside them lies the "Zebra" mechanical switch, always with the Epomaker license plate.

Although its poor quality is rumored, this switch actually did its excellent job, offering me long typing sessions and a comfortable typing sensation.

I really love these switches. They give a soft, smooth mechanical feel. And the sound they make is aesthetically pleasing.

Amazing sound and feel for the money

At first glance, the Epomaker Zebra switches stand out for their interesting design - the black and white colors are inspired by the zebra motif. The switches look elegant and match well with keyboards especially in bright or contrasting colors.

In terms of design, we are dealing with a well-thought-out, yet fairly standard design already. The nylon base provides good stability, and the polycarbonate top casing further stiffens the switch. The POM stylus, on the other hand, guarantees smooth movement and minimal friction. A large part of this is also due to the 21 mm spring used here, which significantly affects the feedback and thus improves the comfort of use.

An additional advantage of the switches is hot-swap compatibility, which means that they can be easily replaced without the need for soldering.

Some reservations can be had here only about the initial lubrication of the switches. The factory-applied amount of grease is rather uneven, but averaging is rather homeopathic. It is difficult to say how this will affect the quality of use in the long run, but more demanding users should additionally lubricate the switches themselves.

One of the key aspects that users of mechanical keyboards pay attention to is typing comfort.
Zebra's Epomaker offer smooth (even creamy) performance characteristics, allowing fingers to move freely across the keyboard. The relatively low resistance makes typing pleasant and smooth, and the switches do not make unwanted sounds.

The low pressure and quick activation point also make the switches perform well in games.The nice responsiveness works well in both online and reflex-oriented titles.However, it should be remembered that we are dealing with budget switches and it certainly won't be ideal for professional gamers, for whom even a fraction of a second counts.

Another important aspect of the switches (for some, the most important) is the sound they produce.

The sound of the Epomaker Zebra is very pleasant to the ear. The switches offer a relatively quiet sound (with additional lubrication it should be even quieter). They are not the quietest switches on the market, but compared to classic linear switches, they generate a slightly deeper sound, which certainly does not cause discomfort to the user, and for many may even be pleasant to hear.

Thanks to the nylon bottom casing, the sound is slightly muffled, which minimizes the spring “pinging” effect that often appears in cheaper switches.
