Epomaker Keyboard Reviews: RT100, TH80 Pro, Shadow-X - Sept & Oct 2023

Epomaker RT100

"The Epomaker RT100 comes well-packaged in a white cardboard box, providing a user manual, a high-quality USB-C to USB-A cable, and a handy tool that serves as both a keycap and switch puller. It evokes a sense of nostalgia with its throwback to early office keyboards. The thoughtful placement of the USB-C port, wireless switches, and LED indicators show attention to user needs. Its robust feel and retractable feet with anti-skid rubber pads further emphasize its quality build. The full RGB LED backlighting is vibrant, offering a plethora of customizable lighting effects.Β "

"The RT100 feels substantial in the hand. The bottom of the board has two nested sets of retractable feet to raise the typing angle. Both sets of feet have antiskid rubber pads. Three rubber bumpers are located along the bottom edge of the case’s underside. Behind a removable panel is a secondary USB-C port, which is used for the mini-LCD screen, and a storage slot for the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver."

"There is a lot to like about the EPOMAKER RT100 from the funky retro design vibes, to the thocky sound (at least with the keyboard I was sent with EPOMAKER’s Wisteria switches) and there’s that fun little display that you can program. With all these features, I think the RT100 is reasonably priced and I can’t wait to see what other fun mechanical keyboards that they will create in the future."

Epomaker Shadow-X

"The EPOMAKER Shadow-X emerges as a unique player in the vast sea of keyboards with its 70% (FRLTKL – function row-less tenkeyless) gasket-mounted design. Priced competitively at $85, this pre-built beauty offers a harmonious blend of design elegance, robust functionality, and versatility."

"The keyboard (Epomaker Shadow-X) itself has a sleek, gunmetal grey look to it with matching, two-tone doubleshot PBT keycaps. Like the EK68, the finish is made to appear metallic, mimicking the look of more expensive aluminum custom keyboards. There are also yellow accent keys included in the box, so you can add a bit of extra flair and make the keyboard pop."

Epomaker TH80 Pro

"The Epomaker TH80 Pro arrives with a manual detailing its functions, a well-crafted white USB-C cable, and a combined switch/keycap puller – a thoughtful addition for those who anticipate modifying their keyboard setup. At a glance, the TH80 promises quality without breaking the bank."

"As you can tell from the pictures in this review, the Monet version of the Epomaker TH80 Pro looks absolutely ravishing. The smooth gradient keycaps, the white exterior and the polished metal-like volume knob (it’s actually plastic) gives the keyboard a stunning profile. It’s easily one of the most beautiful keyboards I have seen, and my preferred choice between the two available colorways."

"The EPOMAKER TH80 Pro mechanical keyboard sounds satisfyingly thonky right out of the box with no modding at all. I like the sound of this keyboard more than the Keydous NJ80-AP keyboard that I reviewed last. But that’s the fun of mechanical keyboards. You can switch keycaps and switches to build a keyboard that is perfect for you in sound and typing feel."
