PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

gaming keyboard

With built-in modularity for everything from connectivity to switches, the TH66 from EPOMAKER is a keyboard for those who like to change things up.

Three Modes of Connectivity

There are three means of connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 GHz, and a USB-C wired output. Thanks to the hot-swappable sockets, it can accommodate a variety of switches, both 3 and 5-pin.

Modified Gasket-like Structure & Foam Dampener

The TH66 is neither a traditional gasket structure nor a typical sandwich mount. Instead, the TH66 seeks to discover the balance point between the traditional gasket design and the sandwich structure to fulfill the demand of soft tactile experience and typing stability.

It adopts the gaskets on the edges of the bottom case as the main contact point, which is to bring soft tactile feelings and quieter sounds. Meanwhile, a few screws are used to secure the plate and the PCB to eliminate the common complaint of using a traditional gasket mounting keyboard - lacking support in the central typing area and instability when typing hard.

On top of that, two layers of EVA sound dampening foam are fully utilized in the Epomaker TH66 mechanical keyboard.

Compared with the common sandwich mounting keyboard, the TH66 provides a softer and quieter typing experience, while offering a more stable tactile than the traditional gasket keyboard.

Aluminum Programmable Metal Knob

An aluminum knob is equipped on the upper right of the keyboard. The knob is used to turn up/down the volume; however, it can also be used as a press button. The default function of pressing is to mute the audio, but you can also program it to other functions such as play/pause, opening search function, or even some combination shortcuts like ctrl+c or ctrl + v.

Pre-lubed Stabilizers

In order to minimize the gap of typing feel and sound between the large and small keys, we have also improved the stabilizer quality and lubricated every stabilizer before packaging.

PBT Keycaps in MDA Profile & Dye-sub Technique

EPOMAKER TH66 keyboard comes with the popular EPOMAKER Theory Keycaps in unique MDA profile. Keycaps are made of top-grade PBT dye-subbed keycaps.

PBT keycaps are often considered the top choice for keycaps materials, even over ABS keycaps, as PBT is much more durable, oil-resistant (does not get shiny over time like ABS ones), and stays true to color. MDA profile is kind of a lower version of SA profile so it’s quite suitable for those who enjoy the sculpted keycaps but not too high.

Note: The TH66's top row (F row) is designed with north-facing LEDs, other rows are with south-facing LEDs. This is not any defect, and we won't accept returns because of this reason. We recommend only using Gateron SMD switches for the TH66.Β

Very satisfied with the keyboard. It's my first proper mechanical keyboard and it ticks all the boxes. Keycaps feel premium, it sounds great, has a nice weight to it, and RGB is cool. Everyone who has typed on it comments how nice and smooth it feels (brown switches).

very slow to dispatch

Took about 4-5 weeks to get my order. There was no notice on the website they would be shut for 2-3 weeks prior to payment, had to contact support to find out why the delay. Epomaker should really really customers know. TH66 Pro is a decent KB, bit small for work so have reporposed it's role. Keycaps are good quality and I really like the budgerigar switches.Needs a bit of work to sound half decent. When on sale, price is fair but so many alternative coming out at more competitive prices. My favourite epomake product is the EK21 numpad. Amazing sounding out of the box. Wish this sounded the same.

It's a recommended purchase

Positive aspects:

- Attractive design: The keyboard has a pleasing aesthetic, especially in the "clear black case" version.
- Useful layout: The key distribution is practical and efficient.
- High-quality keycaps: The keys are made of PBT, a durable and resistant material. They have a slightly high profile for my taste, and the font is larger than normal, but they still feel nice to the touch.
- Gateron Pro Red switches: They function smoothly and offer a smooth and precise typing experience.
- Value for money: The keyboard's price is competitive, especially considering it offers three connection options: 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth, and wired.

Negative aspects:

- Not compatible with VIA: This version of the keyboard is not compatible with VIA software, limiting customization options. Epomaker's software fulfills basic functions, but the VIA-compatible version comes at a higher price.
- Key sticking: Occasionally, when using the keyboard in 2.4 GHz or Bluetooth mode, keys stick. This seems to happen randomly, especially when holding down a key for a few seconds or pressing it repeatedly. The issue doesn't occur when using the keyboard wired. It's expected that this issue will be resolved through a firmware update.
- RGB lighting: The first row of keys has "north facing" RGB backlighting, while the rest of the keyboard has "south facing" backlighting. It would be desirable for the entire keyboard to have "south facing" backlighting, maybe in version 2?
- USB dongle storage: There's no specific place to store the USB dongle when not in use, which can lead to it being lost.
- Missing gasket mount (?): The keyboard lacks a gasket mount, which could enhance the typing experience (Visibly it has, the drawback is that it has no functionality).
- Difficulty in disassembly: Disassembling the keyboard can be "complicated" and there's a risk of damaging the joints. It would be convenient for the process to be simpler.
- Small battery: The keyboard's battery is small (in mAh) and could be larger to offer greater autonomy.

Overall, the Epomaker TH66 Pro is a good keyboard for its price, especially if acquired at $53.99. With some improvements, such as VIA compatibility, resolving the key sticking issue, more mAh battery and better design for disassembly, it could be an even better keyboard.
