South-facing LED RGB Backlight & Custom Silent Blue Switches

The CIDOO ABM066 features south-facing LED RGB backlights with different light effects. This is also perfect with the custom CIDOO Silent Blue switches which includes LED slot to fit the amazing RGB lights. What’s more, the switches are pre-lubed to increase the smooth sense. With the operating force of 37g and bottom force 45g, the linear switches are perfect on the keyboard to be easily pressed and shine-through.

Gasket mounted with Flex-cut PC Mounting Plate

The CIDOO ABM066 goes above and beyond by incorporating a gasket-mounted mechanism with a flex-cut PC (Polycarbonate) mounting plate. The ABM066 utilizes foam gaskets to cushion the interaction between the plate and the PCB. The result is a softer bottom-out and top-out feel, which reduces typing fatigue and offers a ‘bouncier’ experience compared to traditional tray or top mounts. With the flex-cut PC mounting plate, the keyboard enhances these inherent qualities by adding strategically-placed cuts to allow the plate to flex more when keys are pressed. This results in a feel that many describe as 'cloud-like' or 'cushioned,' providing not just a tactile but almost a 'floating' typing experience.

Got couple of problems

Overall it's good, but I feel like I need an armrest for this keyboard.
The problem is I got couple of keys to double click, that wasn't pleasant.
But I swapped those keys with rarely used ones.
And I also lack "window" key, so I need to remap another one for such use case.

Not a bad keyboard, but the lack of documentation and tools is concerning

First, simply as a keyboard, it is good. The feeling is pleasant and solid. Of course, will take time to get used to it. The symbols on the keys are a bit weird, but funny. And I usually type without looking at the keyboard anyway.

Overall, the mechanical quality and build is good. I do not know what do others complain about, just a simple and minimalistic thing. Who needs function keys? You have Fn+digit. On the real kb with the function keys I almost never used them anyway - they are too far.

I have two major concerns about it.

First, complete absence of useful documentation. The little booklet is what you get. This is an engineering product, it is supposed to be for the geeks who know how the keyboards work. Where are the specs? Any technical documentation? Nothing. OK, I have got original Via working finally with that JSON file they provide - although it is an old file and it does not even completely match the keyboard - it looks different. But, at the end, I was able to program a few extra keys. You have to remove the keyboard definition and add it again every time you use Via, otherwise it won't find the keyboard. And, no, I won't be using any binaries from any untrusted sources, only the open-source products that I can trust.

Next, the little screen. It is totally useless. Again, given the lack of documentation and the tools for Linux to manipulate it, it is useless. Who would know that the strange "Image Update Tool" (by the way, I would not dare to use it for the images, because there is no documentation) is what you need to update the date/time?? Of course, again, a very suspicious binary with missing Windows dependencies - I would never install it on a real system. Luckily, installing it in a discardable offline Windows VM works fine.

Finally, not really the keyboard's problem, but still - I bought the matching silicon pad and while it is quite comfortable, it slides too easily. It needs to have some rubber at the bottom to stay in place.

Overall, for the price, I think it is a good product. The main concern is that it must be more open on the engineering side to satisfy the people buying such things.

Perfectly cute and comfortable

It is a very good feeling keyboard which is nice to type on thanks to the gasket mount. It has a decent size and never feels like its in the way. Both the switches and the keys were easy to change if wanted. I chose the barebones kit and bought the sea salt switches with it. Resulting in a very silent and comfortable typing experience.

Extras:
+The little screen is very fun without making this keyboard cost any more than other options.
+The case is one solid beige color. To me the color is great because it matches with lots of other colors.
+Option for cable, 2.4 and bluetooth.
-No function key row, but this is a non issue with key combos

Hard to Open the Case for Modding but Otherwise a Great Keyboard

This is one of my first keyboards and I absolutely adore it! The Alice layout makes it so much more comfortable to type for longer periods of time. The only real complaint I have with the ABM066 is the difficulty in opening the case. I had heard in other peoples reviews that it was hard to open, but it seemed pretty understated in my opinion. I ended up scratching the case a bit trying to open it up, luckily the damage is only noticeable from the underside. Other than that it's a great keyboard, it's beautiful, the screen is nice, and it's a bit weighty. Overall very enjoyable!
