The key differentiator of the Nimbus Switch V3 from among its numerous competitors here is the use of a full polyacetal (POM) housing. This material is characterized by exceptional smoothness of movement and resistance to abrasion. It is worth noting that it also affects the sound qualities of the Switch. This solution is very often used in much more expensive equipment, which is a good indication of the manufacturer's ambitions.
Another advantage is a rather long spring with progressive characteristics. The resistance of the spring increases with the depth of pressing the key. In practice, this means that it prevents the key from being “hammered” to the underside with great force, making the operation noticeably quieter and the key pressing itself more controlled and satisfying.
We also can't help but mention the gold-plated (at least that's the impression they give) copper contacts, which provide better electrical conductivity (that is, the switch is more responsive), and they themselves are resistant to corrosion, which gets up as sporadically as you might think. The five-pin design used here, in turn, ensures that the switch is firmly seated on the keyboard PCB, minimizing the risk of wobbling.
Reservations can be had here about the factory lubrication. As a rule, the factory amount of grease in the switches is quite uneven (more in one, less in the other). In this model, however, there is a very homeopathic amount of it (opened and tested dozens of switches). So it is worthwhile to properly prepare them yourself to extend their life and further improve the comfort of use.
As for the appearance itself, the Nimbus Switch V3 looks very good. The yellow stylus and the white-red (red falls more into pink here) casing visually harmonize very well with each other
Even the first contact with the Nimbus Switch V3, gives the impression of dealing with something much more expensive. The switches are characterized by an exceptionally smooth and smooth movement. The lack of strong resistance felt here makes typing light and comfortable, even during long sessions. The minimal friction, in turn, translates into really quiet operation compared to many other linear switches.
Measuring the volume (taken at home with a popular app on a phone) at a distance of about 50 cm from the keyboard, results in about 35-37 dB (normal keypressing), 42-44 dB (more forceful keypressing). The result, too, even with a large margin of error (no professional measuring equipment), looks really impressive.
