Compact and functional.

The Epomaker HE65 Mag is packaged in a fairly standard cardboard box that features key hardware information and aesthetically pleasing graphics. Inside it, in addition to the keyboard itself in a plastic dust cover, we also find: an instruction manual, a switch/keyboard extractor, 2 additional switches, a USB-C to USB-A cable in a black braided sleeve. So it's pretty standard equipment, but we don't really need anything else for use. We could only be tempted here to add Esc, space, enter keys in other colors (than blue).

The HE65 Mag features a minimalist yet elegant design. The low profile of the case, combined with gently rounded edges, gives it a modern look. The black-gray-blue styling of the hardware goes well with it, but this is a very subjective assessment.

The keyboard has an ANSI layout with 67 keys. Keycaps are made of high-quality PBT plastic, which provides pleasant to the touch and durable abrasion-resistant key surfaces. The legends on the keys are clear and sharp. However, the keys are not translucent, which has an impact on the distracting backlighting.

The user's attention is momentarily drawn to the small screen located in the upper right corner, which serves as an information and utility function, as well as the **** located on the right side of the keyboard. It provides convenience of use, especially in the context of multimedia settings and backlighting. With this ****, you can easily adjust the volume without having to search for the appropriate buttons on the keyboard. This **** also acts as a controller for the RGB backlighting, allowing you to quickly switch lighting effects or adjust the brightness.

On the front left side of the keyboard are sliders for the operating system (Mac/Windows) and connectivity method (2.4G, USB, BT). There is also a USB connector for charging the keyboard and a place for a 2.4 Ghz dongle. The underside, meanwhile, is a centrally located metal nameplate, four anti-slip rubber bands once two two-step feet.

The heart and most important distinguishing feature of the equipment from among the numerous competitors are the magnetic Gateron White switches used here.

Magnetic White combines the classic feel of a linear switch with modern technological solutions. The result is a switch that impresses not only with its low activation force, but also with its incredible responsiveness and potential for full customization.

At first glance, the Gateron Magnetic White resembles a typical linear switch - quiet, smooth operation with no perceptible activation threshold. But what makes it unique is its Hall Effect technology, which is the use of magnetic field changes to register a press. This means no traditional contact points and the elimination of mechanical wear, resulting in much longer life and smoother operation.

The Switch offers just 30g of activation force, making it one of the lightest models available - an ideal choice for users who prefer instant response without much finger effort. The activation range is fully customizable (e.g., from 0.1mm to 4mm), which, when combined with the right software (e.g., keyboards that support Rapid Trigger and dynamic trigger point setting), gives you almost infinite possibilities to tailor the key action to your preferences.

One of the keyboard's most outstanding features is the ability to programmatically adjust the amount of pressure required to activate a key. Users can set a lighter force for faster typing or a heavier force to avoid accidental presses. This feature is particularly valuable for gamers, who can adjust the sensitivity of the keys for a specific game, and for programmers and writers who prefer a more comfortable and personalized typing experience. The range of pressure adjustment is usually quite wide, allowing subtle fine-tuning for individual preferences.

Another noteworthy feature of the hardware is the ability to change the activation point, or the depth at which the key is registered. You can set a very shallow activation point for lightning-fast response in games, where every millisecond counts, or a deeper point that may be preferred when typing, providing a more confident press.

Rapid Trigger technology is another advantage of magnetic switches and thus the keyboard. Traditional mechanical switches have a fixed reset point, which means that the key must return to a certain position before it can be activated again. With Rapid Trigger, activation and deactivation of the key is done dynamically depending on the slightest upward or downward movement. This eliminates the delays associated with resetting and allows for much faster and more responsive repeated presses, which is crucial in dynamic games...
