    Make sure you like it

The keyboard is great. Too small for my likings but the general feel of it is pretty good. Make sure you like the keyboard though cause if you don’t want want a refund you’ll only get 65% back of what you payed. Made me pretty mad.

    Excellent Keyboard for the Price

I had a decent keyboard provided by my employer that I accidentally spilled coffee on, and my spacebar stopped working. My replacement was less than enjoyable to use, so I decided to build a keyboard specifically for work, aimed at typing and productivity.

I selected the GK73X for a few reasons, first and most importantly, it has a numpad. I work in tech support for an ISP, and I'm constantly typing phone numbers into support tickets so this was a must. Secondly, it didn't have a function row, as the only thing I used this for was to adjust the volume of my music. This board has volume adjustment baked into fn + g/h, so this was an easy move and easily remembered.

The board feels really solid, and even with a plastic case it's at least challenging to flex or bend this keyboard to any degree. The board came with lubed stabilizers, which was a nice touch, and sound pretty good out of the box. You might want to add more, as my right spacebar started rattling after roughly a week of use. The included USB type C cable is of pretty good quality, and is par for a starter keyboard cable. I did not get the wireless version, and this isn't necessary for work.

I paired this board with NovelKey Creme switches, which I lubed with my own personal selection of plastic safe teflon lubricant. I bought a set of cheaper XDA profile keycaps because I didn't need the expensive double shot caps on my work keyboard. The board sounds nothing short of amazing, and several of my coworkers have taken notice of the sound and profile of this unique keyboard.

I had some issues with the software link provided by the retailer who sold me this board, but after downloading the software straight from the source, I've had no problems at all changing the shortcuts and macros on my board. I would estimate that the software for this board is much better than that of my Anne Pro 2, and I think I'll be enjoying this board much more due in part to the extra function layers, and hot swap capability.

I'll admit it does take a week or two to get used to the shortened return and backspace keys, but after long you get used to switching back and forth from other keyboards and this one. I haven't noticed much of the shortened tab and caps keys, but I don't mind the 1U tab, and the caps I rarely use. I almost never use the right shift, with the exception of the question mark and quotation marks so the 1.25U right shift is no problem to me.

All in all, this is a fantastic keyboard if you're looking for a board that has almost all the capabilities of a full size in a much smaller package. The function and macro support is excellent, and the build quality is superb, even for a plastic case.

I spent roughly $180 USD on this board, switches, and caps, and I'm left with a REALLY enjoyable board that I intend to type on for years to come. I would recommend this board to anyone who needs the numpad keys for the productivity, and doesn't mind a board that's a bit different but can be readily adjusted for the task at hand. Super glad I bought this quirky board, and I can't wait to use it in the coming years.

I've got my GK73X in front of my Anne Pro 2 for comparison below.
