TLDR: Great board if you have a budget ~100 €/$ and need a board with a numpad.
I bought the PBT keycaps with Black case with Gateron Black switches .
It took a bit of time before the keyboard arrived, (To Europe anyway).
The packaging looks nice, altough mine was slightly damaged (most likely just delivery, everything worked fine antyway).
The package contains:
- The board
- 2 extra switches (the ones you chose)
- Braided usb-C to usb-A
- Extra keycaps for Windows / Mac
- Keycap / Switch puller
- Manual (you will need it in the beginning)
Overall quality is great
It feels nice to type on the board, it does not feel like a cheap board.
Sound is great
I have not modded the board yet, but stock it sounds quite nice. I do not notice rattle from the stabilizers for big keys.
There is no noticeable hollowness from the board.
The keycaps are fine
Keycaps feel good to type on, however the print on some of the keycaps are not centered.
On some of the keycaps you can see it, on others it is barely noticeable. (most are fine btw)
I do not mind, it is not that bad.
Switches (gateron blacks [linear]) are really nice
But this is preference, so do your own research on switches.
I had a 100% keyboard before, so I had to adjust a bit to the 96% layout. It will feel natural after a couple of days / maybe a week.
If you want macros or change the RGB on this board you need to install software.
The software is a bit complicated but it gets the job done.
The keyboard has bluetooth and can connect to 3 devices, my pc does not have bluetooth so I have not tested it. Other people on the Internet say it works fine.
It is a bit dim but it is not that bad. Quite a few modes in the software and you can make your own lighting effects. (It does take quite a bit of work)
I have not modded this board yet.I will eventually.
You can modify this board quite easily, take off the keycaps and switches to get access to some screws and take out the place and PCB.
My previous board:
I had a 100% keyboard before it was a ~180 €/$ logitech G513 with mx blues [clicky].
This gk96s looks, feels, sounds a whole lot better. And that for half the price of my previous board.
The software for both epomaker and logitech are not the best.
But now that i have tried both I would choose the GK96s over the G513 any day.
