I love the keyboard. The lubed Keys and stabilizers are unlike anything I used before, it's my first real "custom" mechanical keyboard.
I had the G710+ with MX Browns before and the difference is huge compared to my Gaterons Browns. The GK68XS has a deep clonky sound and no real high notes when typing. The keys feel a bit mushy compared to the MX Browns but I'm slowly getting used to them. They really feel like the combination of MX Reds and MX Browns. The backspace can be configured in the software but it takes some time to get used to that, I've got big hands tho and made the button left of it backspace too.
Took exactly two weeks to arrive with standard shipping.
So pretty much I'd rate it this way:
Build quality: 5/5 (got the plastic one, feels real sturdy)
Typing feel: 4/5 (not as tactile as I thought, kind of harder to press)
Sound: 5/5 (like hail raining on the roof next room with the door slightly open while you're all comfy in your bed)
The software is just awful, that's pretty much the reason I took off one star....
Other things are good. Good qulity, Good keycaps.
But It is worst key layout ever.
The Backspace is way too far from my hand, so it makes twist my wrist.
So painful.
I want return immediately.
I love it. The aluminum makes it quite heavy and thats nice. Keycaps are great quality!
Shipping was relatively fast, customer service was great.
10/10 would order again.
Got the Aluminum case and it is a beauty, the weight, the color, the edges ... oh boy. There is almost no reverb, after installing some play dough for sound dampening (see "Hipyo Tech" on youtube for more information ;P) it sounds just like a gasket mounted high end keyboard, just amazing.
The keycaps of epomaker feel astonishingly premium, too. They are extremely thik and feel very smooth (in contrast to more textured keykaps as from Tai-Hao for example - I actually prefere the feel of epomakers keycaps).
I used the software to change some keybinding, the layouts are saved on the pcb of the keyboard and you don't need the sofware after konfiguration. If you reed into it you will see that the first standard layer cant be changed and I feared that I would need to change to my custom layer after every restart, but the keyboard will remember the last layout you selected - works like a charm. Makros are the only thing I could not get to work, but I personally do not need them.
Could not be happier. I will definetely buy more of your stuff!
I received my GK68XS 3 weeks after the order, exactly as the seller informed me beforehand.
The look, feel, build, and quality of the keyboard are all top-notch. The only thing that is slightly annoying is the loud thock of the space bar, it is very prominent compared to other keyboards, but suppose there are ways I can try and fix that.
All in all, amazing product and service by Epomaker, I will be sure to recommend the company!
